Memory (RAM) - One of the main upgrades that can speed up a computer is RAM; in addition, it can help a great deal if you want to run multiple programs at the same time. Also, it is one of the easiest upgrades to make and can be done to most computers. The price of this kind of upgrade is relatively low, too, as RAM prices are generally dropping all the time.

Wireless Networking and Wireless Internet Access - In many situations, wireless networks and wireless printing are preferred, or even a necessity. They are usually much easier to set up, especially in older buildings or rental property where running network cables is difficult if not impossible.
